Announcement
Annual World Toilet Day | November 19th is World Toilet Day. Celebrated annually, it’s a day to celebrate the importance of the humble, yet vitally important, toilet and to raise awareness for the 2.5 billion people (nearly half of the world's population) who don't have access to toilets. According to the World Toilet Organisation over 2.5bn people are without access to proper sanitation, which risks their health, strips their dignity and kills more than 1.8m people a year.

The Bog Standard campaign is working to raise standards of provision and access to school toilets in the UK. While all schools here do at least have toilets, they are not always of a standard you would expect of a developed country. There are many students in the UK avoiding going to the toilet all day because they can’t face the poor state of their school toilets or they can't face the behaviour that substandard toilets often attract. Or children and young people are not allowed to go to the toilet when they need to. Take a look at some of the comments parents and pupils share with us on this website. Some of their experiences are quite harrowing.
Toilets in the workplace that adults - and teachers in school - use are generally much better because there is Health and Safety Legislation that sets the standard. These do not apply to children and young people in school. The Bog Standard campaign is working to change this.
